I’m finally in production of the second issue after several weeks of scripting, formatting issue one, and con-going. Since the last cover focused on Blake, I felt it was only fair to give Isabel and Candice a little face time for the second issue. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out and I’m excited to try the new coloring technique I’m going to use for the second issue.
After a bit of aggravation, I finally got my new large format flatbed scanner working last night and I couldn’t be happier with the results on the cover. It scans lineart very crisply and will streamline my workflow now that I don’t have to wait until morning to scan my bristol boards on the work scanner, which was hardly optimal for the job and required a fair amount of post work to get the lineart where it should be in preparation for color.
The second issue of Variables will begin posting in ten days. This week, you get the cover preview; next week, I will be posting the first page preview and then it’s off to the races. The issue should wrap entirely sometime around the beginning of the year. Now that I have one issue under my belt, it’s safe to say that I’m excited to start delving into the meat of this story with issues two through four.
