I don’t plan on posting any finished pages of Aurorae (past the single-panel intro page already on the site) until I’m several pages into the story. I figure that nobody cares about a comic with less than ten pages available so there’s no reason for me to post any of those pages until I have enough content to fill at least five minutes of reading.

But that doesn’t mean I can’t post previews. I started work on the comic a few days ago after several weeks of preparation and thought it’d be kind of cool to show the first (real) page of content, if only in black & white. This will probably (but not necessarily) be the last full page I post until the comic goes live (anywhere from 4-8 weeks from now). If I post any more previews, they’ll likely be of the single panel variety so I’m not giving away story elements long before I finish coloring and lettering the pages.

When I initially had the idea for Aurorae, one of the most vexing problems was the presentation. Should I use a slideshow? Should I just go with a full page? In the end, they all sounded like bad ideas to me… Until I saw a comic in “spread” presentation. Basically, this is two comic pages butted up against one another, the same way you’d see them in a book. Once I saw that format, it felt like a perfect fit for Aurorae. So that means what you’re seeing here is actually pages three and four of volume one. This is how all pages will be drawn and how they will be presented throughout the comic.

Anyway, here’s the page! I hope you like it…
