I’ve been trying to see how much content I could produce for Variables on a weekly basis and after trying to draw, color, and publish two pages a week and failing at it for about a month, I’ve settled on a three pages every two weeks schedule for the time being. One week (like, say, this one), I’ll publish a finished page on Tuesday and a preview on Thursday. The following week, I will publish a page on both Tuesday and Thursday. That schedule seems to be my limit for production now that each page is taking me close to 20 hours to finish.
This is the 37th full-size page of Variables that I have posted and it is the first page with less than four panels. Initially, I wanted to tell as much story as possible per page so I would rarely write fewer than six panels per page and would often write eight or nine per page. After awhile, drawing multiple small panels started wearing on me so I tried incorporating multiple panels into one. In some cases it worked, others it failed but it broke me from trying to tell the whole story on one page. While I still prefer to keep shoving more panels into each page than the three you see here, I will occasionally make an exception and some day, you might even see a single panel splash page in Variables (but don’t hold your breath).
Well, that’s about all for this morning. Be sure to check back next Tuesday for the colored and lettered version of this page. Cheers!
