I’m glad I spent a few weeks building a small buffer because I really needed it this week. Last weekend, I couldn’t draw anything that mattered and this week, I’ve had things to do and/or I needed to do a spring cleaning on the place in preparation to getting my motorcycle up and running, the garage cleaned for the incoming floodwaters, and tonight, I need to have the snow tires removed from my car so I don’t burn off that precious soft rubber in this 50 degree weather. You have to love Minnesota sometimes…
On the more fun side of things, I received the paperwork for the insurance claim on my father’s house, which was recently lost in a fire. In that paperwork, it states that I need to spend a bunch of money to replace items or I won’t get back a good chunk of the money I claimed in losses. So this week, I ordered a new television, a new Playstation 3, and some games, all of which will arrive sometime next week. After that, I’ll go on a Blu-Ray shopping spree to recoup some of the money lost on DVD movies I owned. Which means that it will be even harder for me to find time to work on the book in upcoming weeks as I unbox new toys and have the uncontrollable urge to play with them.
Below, you’ll find the inks for page 6 of Variables 1992: #1. It’s probably my favorite page so far and the layout is one of the most appealing to me as a reader. As I’m getting further along in the book, I’m able to loosen up my layouts and I’m getting better at leading the reader’s eyes with word bubbles instead of forcing things along with a strict panel layout. On top of the layout, the color palette for this page pleases me but you’ll have to wait for Monday to see that.
That’s about it for today. Take a look below at the inks for the upcoming page 6 of Variables.
