After purchasing an original iPhone in early 2008 and upgrading to a 3G in 2009, I have deserted the iPhone camp and joined the Android crew. Overall, the two operating systems are nearly interchangeable, with iOS getting the nod in some regards while Android gets the nod in others. It’s the hardware that separates these two phones and I couldn’t be happier to move away from Apple’s closed system and into the loving embrace of the Inspire’s 4.3″ screen, HSPA+ 4G data (really, more like 3.5G), and faster hardware specs. All of this for just $99, or $100 less than the lower-specced iPhone 4. Somehow, I think it will be awhile before I consider giving Apple a shot at my business again unless they radically revamp their interface and hardware specs to compete with the burgeoning Android phone market. On a humorous note, using the Inspire as a wi-fi hotspot nearly doubles the download speed of my home internet connection, which is a lousy ol’ DSL connection. Unfortunately, data caps force me to choose when and where I use this feature so I won’t be torrenting anything over the connection any time soon…

You may have noticed that I added a Variables Cast page to the website. I decided to follow the system used by many other long form books to initiate readers into their universe and while there is barely any information there at present, character bios and pictures will be added as they are introduced in the book. I don’t want to be giving away integral plot points before they’re revealed in the comic, now do I?

Page three is inked and ready to color. It was the most difficult page to draw thus far and the results were decent but not to the level I really expect of myself. There was a lot of foreshortening, one of my most hated exercises in drawing. Foreshortening buildings, easy. Foreshortening humans, bloody difficult. In any case, it’s finished and I’ll be spending the rest of the week and weekend coloring pages two and three in my continued effort to build up a page buffer for myself. I continue to miss my goal of building up an entire page of buffer but by the end of this weekend, I should be close to that goal at the very least.

In comic-related news, I found an interesting post-apocalyptic webcomic called The Heindrich Project. It’s only 30 or so pages in but it looks as if it has potential. You should check it out if zombie-like things, men in funky masks, and armageddon are things you put on your daily to-do list.

On an unrelated note, I think more people should tweet and status update what they’re eating, what they recently ate, and/or what they may be planning to eat in the near future. I really enjoy that. It lets me know what’s happening in their lives on a most intimate and personal level.

Hello, Android.
