Page 8 Inks

And with this page, we’re back to South Dakota to explain more about Mr. White and why he’s looking for Blake. Sooner or later, I’m going to have to start explaining what the hell is going on so for the rest of this issue, I’m going to do just that. More of the Blake story is revealed and at the end of the issue, we jump back to Isabel and Candice, who are still looking for the mysterious burglar.

I’m pretty happy with the pencils and inks on this page. The page took a ridiculous amount of time to lay out, with two perspective-heavy panels to start off the page. Both accurately represent what I wanted the page to look like from the beginning, which is  probably more uncommon than you’d believe and definitely more uncommon than I would like. The top panel is a much more detailed drawing of the Monroe residence, which I avoided doing last issue and felt obligated to do this issue. Drawing large, boring landscape shots like that isn’t much fun but I keep pounding away at it. I’ll never be a Michael Turner with his fantastic backgrounds but I see WAY too many webcomics ignore them entirely and I refuse to do that. Backgrounds are an immersive part of comics and tell a lot of the story without words and if I keep practicing, I’m determined to make mine at least passable to the average reader.

Well, that’s all I gots for today. Be sure to check back on Tuesday for the colored, lettered version of this page!
