I didn’t really notice that this scene felt very Occupy-ish until I started laying it out. The fact that the protagonist was a protester and faced the cops back in the day was a very organic decision that came about given this character’s background, where he goes in the future, and the state of early 1990s Greece. I ended up reading a fair amount about recent Greek history before I started this arc (a necessity, given my extremely limited knowledge of the country) and damn, the word of the day over there is “unrest”. The Greeks love a good protest and the police assaults that inevitably seem to follow them.

I have a ton of commentary about this page, mainly about how much it spiraled out of control. I’m hoping to save it with color (or, more accurately, grayscale) because right now it’s a friggin’ mess. There is no focal point, the panels wash together too much, and it sends the eye in every direction. I overshot the mark with the layout and, well… live and learn, I suppose.

Hopefully I’ll have this page up in its grayscale glory tomorrow morning so be sure to check back then. Instead of spending 8+ days on one page, I’m hoping to get back on track and release two pages this week.
