That’s the date I plan to release the first few pages of the main book. Progress has been slow since I’m also working on the short story pages, which eat into most of my allotted time to work on the book. The Cat story will be wrapped up on January 31st so I’ll have one full week of working on the main book to wrap up any finishing touches I need to complete on the cover and first few pages. Right now, I have the pencils finished for the cover, the first page, and about half of the second page completed. If I can squeeze in any time this weekend, I’m going to finish up pencils on page two and maybe start inking the cover.

This week, I’ve spent a fair amount of time working on the site design. Originally, I used a pretty horrible WordPress template as a base starting point to quickly turn out a functional site. The design looked straight out of 2005 with gradients and clipart galore. I’ve eliminated most of what was bothering me though there’s still quite a bit more to do when I get the time. As it stands now, I’m happy enough with the site to leave it as-is for the next month or two or three or four, depending on my motivation level and free time.

In comics-related news, Christopher Nolan announced some of the cast for The Dark Knight Rises yesterday. Anne Hathaway will play Selina Kyle/Catwoman and Tom Hardy will apparently drop the English accent and stomp around grunting nonsensical gibberish as Solomon Grundy Bane. I love the Hathaway choice because, let’s face it, no one will replace Michelle Pfeiffer in that role so Nolan may as well go with someone who has the acting chops to bring something different to the character. I really have no opinion of Hardy but since I despise the Bane character overall, I can’t really get behind anyone using precious Batman screen time on the character. Oh well, can’t win ’em all.
