Finding webcomic gold
Nick and Brock went all web for this comic book podcast. First, though, the trailer for Sin City: A Dame to Kill For just hit the web and here’s hoping it’s at least on par with the first. Maybe Frank Miller learned something after The Spirit train wreck, but on this project he is teaming back up with Robert Rodriguez. Also, Brock is back into the fold of true comic book geekdom. He has a pull list again at his local comic shop.
Our semi-experienced podcasters know that eventually they are going to stop finding top notch webcomics to talk about, but, so far, the well seems far from dry. Magic, revenge, and equine abuse are to be found by the wagon-load in the feature review for this week, Erin Mehlos’ old west themed Next Town Over. The urge to setup a joke that ends with the punchline “but that would be beating a dead horse” was almost overwhelming, but subsided.
Sometimes a webcomic can show many outstanding opportunities the medium has to offer. The second review bundles a few of them together in one amazing package. Hobo Lobo of Hamelin is a new telling of an old story but the presentation is really the star here. Artist and web developer Stevan Živadinović brings this story to life in a multi-layered, side scrolling, (sometimes) audiovisual piece that nothing short of amazing in its scope of work for a webcomic.
