In poor company
Nick and Brock do try to like most of what they read for this comic book podcast. However, things just don’t always work out that way. First, though, the great amorphous mob that is the internet is was angry again about something. This time, it’s a unpublished variant cover of Batgirl. Does the anger match the non-crime? Also poking the Great God Internet with a stick is comic book writer Erik Larsen. He tried to boil down his opinions on character and costume design to 140 characters and that may not have worked out well too well. To clear the air, he went on a male-centric news site, listed as being on the pro-Gamergate side of things, and makes a much more detailed statement how female costumes are designed, and drawn, as well as how movies and a vocal minority are affecting character design in a negative way.
In the spotlight today scientists ruin the world again with Zombies vs Robots. With a name like that, the reader knows exactly what to expect. Combine that with an art style reminiscent of 30 Days of Night and it should make gold. Does the whole book come together, though?
The single issue review of this week is another Star Wars book. Yes. Brock picked Marvel’s Princess Leia . . . Is he glad he did?
Note: Brock makes a reference to including a link to the Erik Larsen interview. However, upon further investigation, both Brock and Nick disagree with the goals of the interviewing website and the link will not be included.
