All dark and sciency
Image is still crushing it with independent comics and this week Nick and Brock fail to avoid them yet again with their review of Black Science. Also up for discussion is the new Star Wars trailer, AMC’s Preacher casting news, and the new darkity, dark, dark Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (and Dark) trailer.
Sci-Fi comic books a many elements to sell to the reader in a short amount of time: the world, the characters, and some idea where the story is going. If any of these fail in so much as the first issue, the series is going to have a tough road ahead. Black Science comes out full force with a face paced story concept, some characters you want to know about, and a setting sold with some fairly simple explanation. After reading a couple good books like this lately, it might be time for Nick and Brock to hunt for something to hate. Brock, however, doesn’t seem to want to look at another Star Wars comic.
TV show reviews are not a usual part of this comic book podcast. However, DC and Marvel comic shows have been exploding in the last few years with Arrow, Agents of SHIELD, Flash, and seemingly more announced every month. Marvel developed one of its properties for a non-network outlet, though and Daredevil found its home on Netflix. Brock has been a huge Daredevil fan for most of his life so they couldn’t not talk about this first season.
